Wine, Women and Song + Dinner

I am a little embarrassed to admit that I have never been to a dinner theater before so when the opportunity presented itself to attend I readily accepted. I was invited to attend a production of Wine , Women and Song at Live Act Dinner Theatre in Whitby. Such a great venue to have so close to home and as I learned after arriving, Live Act plays host to many forms of entertainment to suit the whole family. Check out Liveact.ca to see the full schedule of upcoming events but I know I would love to return for Dave Curran Hypnosis and The Ghost Experience with Jamie Stam!

We got seated at a great table and invited to help ourselves to the buffet dinner, as you can tell from the picture above, I am a sucker for a good beef dinner complete with Yorkshire puddings. I had the chance to speak with Chef Colin who was attending the carvery station and he let me in on the secret of how he slow cooks his roast and the blend of seasoning he use to make it taste so good, of course I can’t tell you, it is a secret!

As we finished up dinner and enjoyed a cup tea we got treated to a bit humour from the owner, Rocky Varcoe’s young son, he did a fine job of telling us knock knock jokes to warm up the crowd for the performance. Wine Women and Song is a comedy written by Kevin Riordan and starring Jane Hailes as Sandra, Jessica Danov as Lisa and Stuart Graham Bell as Vino. When Vino returns home to his roots to attend the funeral of his former boss and mentor, he finds the Estate in shambles as the deceased’s two daughters have clear differences over the future of the Winery, and what it should become.

I found myself giggling and laughing out loud throughout the performance, sometimes even nodding emphatically as  great Italian expressions were sprinkled into the dialogue. The audience was also treated to an absolutely beautiful classic Italian song, sung by “Sandra” who just blew us away with her voice! By the end of the performance I went from a dinner theater virgin to a quick convert. I enjoyed my evening with great company, good entertainment and did not have travel to far to get it, you just never know what talent is in your own back yard!
