Explore Outaouais Top Picks
Here are my top picks from a recent #travellikeagirl getaway with the Travel Mavens to the Outaouais region.
1. Stay at the Ramada Plaza Gatineau/Manoir du Casino. The ideal hotel for families large and small, great options for room types and amenities like pool and breakfast. Close to the Casino du Lac-Leamy if you like to test your luck and the perfect location for touring the area. The hotel was so comfortable and our two story suite with loft bedroom and ensuite was very spacious. After a busy day of touring the kids had their own space in the loft to chill and watch movies while the adults enjoyed a refreshing beverage.
2.Play at Altitude Gym in Gatineau, explore the world of indoor rock climbing. For the thrill seeker this gym offers bouldering, top-roping and lead climbing. For the novice climber they have the unique Clip and Climb room. Climbing wall meets theme park, an action packed activity with individually themed climbing challenges that provide safe fun for everyone!
3.Visit the Canadian Museum of History to appreciate our own unique perspective on world history. I love taking my family to visit this museum, when they were younger we spent time in the Children’s museum and now that they are older we can appreciate more of the exhibits together. Our favorite is the Grand Hall and First Peoples of Canada’s Pacific Coast Exhibit. The Grand Hall is the Museum’s impressive architectural centrepiece, with stunning views of the Ottawa river and Parliament Hill. Majestic totem poles line the hall and command your attention and awe.
4. Explore at Parc Omega a Canadian Safari in Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours, Quebec. Discover the wildlife of Canada such as moose, elk, bison, wolves and bears all within their natural environment as you drive through 15 km of trails. Don’t forget to grab a bag of carrots at the gift shop to feed the animals along the way. To experience all the Parc has to offer plan to spend the day and bring a picnic or stop for lunch at the cafe in the gift shop. Check out the fun little video below to get a sense of how exciting it was for our little travel minis.
Canada is a big place, I hope you get the chance to explore in 2017 and celebrate 150 years of our amazing country.
Special thanks to our sponsors Outaouais Tourism for sharing some of the highlights of their region with us and providing complimentary admissions and accommodations. The reviews that I share are my personal opinion. I am happy to pass along my honest experiences to my readers.
